Government Subsidy Qualification Criteria
- Only South African citizens can apply.
- Applicants may not have benefited from any government housing schemes previously.
- Applicants must not have previously or currently own property.
- Combined gross monthly income not exceeding R7 000.00 p/m.
Supporting Paperwork Required for Subsidy Application
- Copy of main applicant identification document.
- Copy of co-applicant identification document being wife or long term partner.
- Copy marriage certificate if applicable.
- Copy divorce certificate if applicable.
- Copy death certificate if applicable.
- Original latest salary advice.
- Copy of birth certificates or ID copy of dependants.
Procedures for Application at FNB:
To qualify for a financed linked house the applicant must contact FNB on the telephone no. 0860 644 644 where the applicant's details will be captured and then:
- The bank will evaluate the mortgage loan amount the applicant qualifies for.
- A pre-screening will be done at the Department of Housing to ascertain whether the applicant qualifies for a finance linked housing subsidy.
- Thereafter the estate agents will contact the applicants to come forward and complete all the necessary documentation to apply for a mortgage loan and finance linked subsidy, whereafter it can be established what size home the applicant would qualify for.
